A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on a highway in Sutton Saturday evening, according to police.
State police troopers responded to Route 146 north at exit 13 around 6:35 p.m. and found the pedestrian seriously injured, Sutton police confirmed. They were rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center where they were declared dead.
State and local police, as well as the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, are investigating the crash, Sutton police confirmed. It is unclear if the driver stayed at the scene or if charges will be filed.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation posted on social media that the highway’s two leftmost lanes were closed for two hours as a result of the crash.
No further information, including the victim’s identity, has been released.
