Feb. 16 — THUMBS UP: Amy Hasler, a dedicated fifth-grade teacher at Fort Gibson Intermediate Elementary, has been nominated for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year after earning the Fort Gibson Teacher of the Year title. In another commendable feat, students from various schools showcased their math and engineering skills at the Muskogee Area Education Consortium’s Math and Engineering Competition. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities through math exams and hands-on engineering challenges like designing balloon-powered cars and ping pong ball launchers. With representatives from colleges and employers present to guide students towards future educational and career opportunities, the competition drew a total of 482 participants.
