Idaho attorney David Concannon was supposed to be on-board the submarine that went missing off the coast of Newfoundland, but he canceled the trip last minute due to an urgent client matter. Concannon is an attorney and expedition legal consultant who lives in Sun Valley and has worked with clients such as Jeff Bezos and James Cameron. He is also a consultant for OceanGate Expeditions, the company that operates the missing submersible known as the Titan, which is the only crewed submersible in the world that can take five people as deep as 4,000 meters. The submarine was set to explore the Titanic shipwreck with founder and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, Stockton Rush, and four others. Contact with the surface ship was lost an hour and 45 minutes into their dive and rescue efforts are ongoing. Concannon has been involved in the rescue efforts, remaining hopeful for the safe return of his friends and loved ones on board the sub. The passengers on-board the submarine have enough oxygen to last for 96 hours, but the search has not yet yielded any updates.
