Australia’s Eagers Automotive Warns of Potential Data Leak
Australia’s Eagers Automotive is currently investigating claims made by a third party asserting that data allegedly taken from the company’s servers has been published online. The automotive retailer is in the process of assessing the extent of the data breach and has begun reaching out to individuals who may have been affected.
Eagers Automotive is actively monitoring any additional claims relating to the data’s publication. However, the company has not yet provided specific details regarding the type of compromised data. When asked for further comment, Eagers Automotive did not immediately respond.
This incident comes after the company experienced a cyber incident in December that resulted in a significant outage across its operations in Australia and New Zealand. The incident affected Eagers’ ability to finalize transactions for numerous vehicles that had already been sold and were ready for delivery. An investigation conducted in January revealed that a third party had hacked into the company’s servers, gaining unauthorized access to certain parts of its information technology systems.

Despite these setbacks, Eagers Automotive, which boasts a market capitalization of $2.4 billion, does not anticipate a significant financial impact for the fiscal year 2024.
