Jakarta – The Illegal Financial Activities Eradication (Pasti) Task Force, established by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), has cracked down on illegal online lenders operating in Indonesia. In January alone, the task force blocked a total of 233 illegal online loan entities and 78 pieces of content promoting personal loans that violate regulations and pose risks to borrowers.

Since 2017, the task force has been relentless in its efforts to combat illegal financial activities. As of January 31, 2024, a staggering 8,460 illegal financial entities have been blocked. This includes 1,218 illegal investment entities, 6,991 illegal online loan entities, and 251 illegal pawn entities.

The Pasti Task Force has issued a stern warning to the public, emphasizing the potential dangers of utilizing these illegal online loans and personal loans. Such activities not only put borrowers at risk but also raise concerns about the misuse of personal data.

Hudiyanto, the secretary of the task force, urged individuals to exercise caution and remain vigilant when receiving offers related to part-time jobs. Fraudsters often entice victims with promises of quick rewards for completing simple tasks, only to trick them into depositing money.

To eradicate illegal financial activities, we need the support and participation of the community. This can be achieved by remaining careful and vigilant when approached with enticing offers, stressed Hudiyanto.

He went on to highlight two critical aspects that individuals should consider before engaging with any financial entity: legality and logic. It is crucial to ensure that the products and services offered by these entities have obtained legal approval from relevant supervisory institutions. Additionally, individuals should assess the rationality of the benefits promised.

The Pasti Task Force encourages anyone who comes across suspicious investments or online loan offers, especially those with irrational benefits, to report them immediately to the OJK. By reporting such activities, the public plays a vital role in curbing the operations of illegal financial entities.

Keeping in mind the interests and needs of the target audience, the task force aims to raise awareness and protect the community from falling prey to illegal financial activities.

In conclusion, the Pasti Task Force’s ongoing efforts to eradicate illegal financial entities and activities have demonstrated significant progress. With the support and active participation of the public, Indonesia is one step closer to a safer and more secure financial landscape.
