Food Processing Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras stated that startups will play a crucial role in the growth of the food processing sector. In an official statement, he announced the government’s commitment to empowering aspiring entrepreneurs and creating an enabling ecosystem for startups. The minister made these remarks while inaugurating the ”SUFALAM: Start-Up Forum for Aspiring Leaders and Mentors Startup Conclave 2024”.
During the event, Paras emphasized the pivotal role that startups play in the food processing sector. He highlighted the importance of networking and knowledge sharing, which events like SUFALAM facilitate. Furthermore, he acknowledged the significance of startups leveraging various government schemes.
Minister of State for Food Processing Shobha Karandlaje discussed key aspects related to the supply chain and the food processing sector. She emphasized the sector’s potential in achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers’ income and positioning India prominently in terms of increased exports, innovation, and meeting global food demands.
Food Processing Secretary Anita Praveen stressed the necessity of registering all micro-entrepreneurs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and MSMEs on the StartUp India Portal. Praveen also highlighted the vast scope for processing and value addition of agricultural produce. She further elaborated on various schemes introduced by the ministry to support and guide startups towards success, aligning with the government’s vision of creating a self-reliant India.
The event saw participation from over 250 industry stakeholders, startups, MSMEs, financial institutions, venture capitalists, and academia. The diverse attendance reflects the collective interest and efforts towards fostering growth and innovation in the food processing sector.
