The Nigeria Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full accreditation to the Nigeria-Korea Friend Institute (NKFI) to run its National Diploma programs. The announcement was made by the Rector of NKFI, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, during a press briefing at the institute’s premises in Lokoja, Kogi state.
The programs that have received full accreditation for the National Diploma Certificate include Computer Software Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Network and System Security, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and NVC Automotive Mechatronics.
Rector Oluwatoyin expressed his delight at the achievement, stating that it had been a priority for him since assuming his position. He revealed that upon his arrival, he discovered that the institute had not obtained full accreditation despite being established for over eight years. This lack of accreditation had hindered the growth of the institution. Determined to resolve the issue, the institute worked diligently to meet the standards set by the NBTE.
A delegation from the NBTE visited the institute between December 19th and 21st, 2023, to conduct an accreditation exercise for all the programs. Rector Oluwatoyin proudly announced that the NBTE has now granted full accreditation to all the programs at NKFI, effective from January 2024.
In expressing his gratitude, Rector Oluwatoyin acknowledged the former governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his unwavering support and interest in education at all levels. The institute has greatly benefited from the former governor’s vision and generosity towards education.
