OceanGate, the operator of the Titan submersible that lost contact on its way to the Titanic wreckage, has been criticized for taking too long to raise the alarm. The cousin of a passenger on board said that the company should have contacted the coast guard sooner than eight hours after communication was lost. The submersible, carrying five people, including explorer Hamish Harding, lost contact an hour and 45 minutes after being launched on Sunday. A search is currently underway to locate the vessel, which may have both imploded or be floating. The US Coast Guard has predicted that the oxygen levels available will have now expired.
