According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Kazuchika Okada is set to join AEW, as the two parties have effectively agreed to a deal in recent weeks. Although the official signing has not been confirmed, Sapp mentions that the contract is being finalized. AEW had been optimistic about landing Okada for weeks.
While there is no concrete information about Okada’s first appearance after signing with AEW, it is expected to take place after he fulfills his obligations with NJPW. Additionally, several creative ideas have reportedly been discussed for Okada’s future in AEW.
Interestingly, Sapp also reveals that WWE had engaged in talks with Okada. According to WWE sources, Okada had been weighing the pros and cons between WWE and AEW.
As a seven-time world champion with NJPW, Okada held a prominent position within the company and was widely regarded as its face. He had also previously competed for AEW as part of their working relationship with NJPW.
