In his first statement since the diagnosis, the 75-year-old monarch thanked the public for their support and shared how it has helped raise awareness about the disease. The message was published on the king’s website and the royal family’s social media page. Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that Charles had begun treatment for cancer and will take a break from public duties. The type of cancer has not been specified. The diagnosis comes just over a year after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
