Christian Brueckner hatched a sick plan to kidnap a child in Portugal a week before Madeleine McCann went missing, according to new claims. A British ex-pat, Ken Ralphs, revealed that Brueckner attempted to recruit a friend to help him find a youngster to sell to a childless German couple. The disturbing plot was allegedly targeted at a rich family in Praia da Luz, the same resort where Madeleine was kidnapped in May 2007. Ralphs shared that his friend broke down in tears while confessing to his involvement in the heinous scheme. Ralphs successfully convinced him not to participate, and shortly after, he saw the news that Madeleine had vanished. Ralphs immediately alerted the authorities and provided them with information on Brueckner’s location. Despite this information, the British ex-pat claims that no significant action was taken at the time. It was only in 2020, when Brueckner was identified as a suspect, that Ralphs was interviewed by Portuguese detectives. He also contacted Scotland Yard and German prosecutors with his claims. Brueckner, a convicted pedophile currently serving a prison sentence for other crimes, is set to stand trial next week. He denies any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.
