Hull Kingston Rovers rugby league player Lachlan Coote has retired from professional rugby with immediate effect due to medical advice following a series of concussions. Coote, who won three consecutive Betfred Super League titles with St Helens between 2019 and 2021 before joining the Robins ahead of the 2022 campaign, suffered his fifth concussion in less than two years at Magic Weekend. Coote made the difficult decision after speaking with the support of his coach Willie Peters, CEO Paul Lakin, owner Neil Hudgell and the medical team at Hull KR. Although it was a tough decision, Coote felt it was time to prioritize his health, future and family. The Australia-born full-back made 27 appearances for Rovers and scored 161 points for the club.
