A former lawyer at Clifford Chance has been acquitted of insider dealing charges by a London court. Suhail Zina, who stood trial alongside his brother Mohammed Zina, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, was accused of using confidential information to profit from shares in several listed companies. The pair faced charges of insider dealing and fraud relating to loans obtained from Tesco Bank. Suhail Zina pleaded not guilty and was cleared of all counts by Southwark Crown Court. The trial of Mohammed Zina, however, is ongoing. The Financial Conduct Authority, which brought the prosecution, has confirmed that the case against Suhail Zina is not proceeding. Suhail Zina’s lawyer declined to comment.
