Indian venture capital fund Lumikai has launched a $50m fund that will focus on investments in India’s gaming and interactive media markets. The fund includes investments from Krafton of South Korea and Japan’s Colopl and will be used to deploy pre-seed to series A investments, focusing on digital content, intellectual property and platforms specialising in user-generated content. Lumikai has already invested in gaming studios, including Studio Sirah, and streaming platforms such as Loco. Separately, it is setting up a $10m investment fund for Indian investors. Analysts say India’s large youth population, growing disposable incomes and increased smartphone purchases are boosting the country’s gaming market.
