A woman has been found guilty except for insanity for pushing a child onto MAX tracks in an unprovoked attack that occurred in December 2022. The Multnomah County District Attorney confirmed that Brianna Lace Workman, aged 33, was found guilty on all five previously indicted charges. Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Nan Waller has ordered Workman to be placed under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board for care, custody, and treatment. She will be in custody for a maximum of 10 years and will be transported to the Oregon State Hospital. On December 28, 2022, a mother and child were waiting for a MAX train at the Gateway Transit Center when Workman pushed the three-year-old child onto the tracks. The child was quickly rescued but suffered a severe headache and a small red mark on the forehead. Workman has no relationship to the family. The victim’s family was present at the sentencing and the District Attorney’s office expressed their hope for the ongoing healing of the family.
