Bournemouth football club is set to sign Netherlands international Justin Kluivert from Italian giants Roma for an initial fee of £9.5m, which could rise up to £10.25m, according to reports. The 24-year-old attacker, who began his career at Ajax, can reach for the stars once he arrives at the Premier League and joins the Cherries in a five-year deal. This move would be the first signing for Bournemouth under new manager Andoni Iraola, following his appointment on Monday.
After leaving Ajax in 2018, Kluivert has spent the past three seasons playing for RB Leipzig, Nice, Valencia, and Roma. The bright Dutch star, who struggled to find consistency during his time at the latter club, scored six goals in 26 appearances on loan at Valencia last season.
Iraola is hoping Kluivert will find his old form with the football club’s fans after his shock arrival. Bournemouth was comfortably guided to safety last season thanks to the efforts of Gary O’Neil. Still, after a shock announcement regarding his departure, the club lined up then Rayo Vallecano boss Iraola to take the reins. While in the Spanish capital, Iraola guided the minnows back into the top-flight in his first season before achieving consecutive mid-table finishes.
Bournemouth aims to score more goals in the upcoming season, with the top-scoring players last season, Dominic Solanke and Philip Billing, only managing to score seven goals each.
