A doctor has given hope to the families of the missing crew of the Titanic submarine, which is feared to have only hours of breathable air left. Dr Kenneth Ledez, a hyperbaric medicine expert, claims that the trapped crew could survive longer than expected if they are able to conserve their oxygen. The submersible, called the Titan, had approximately 96 hours of air when it set off but has been stranded at the bottom of the ocean with British adventurer Hamish Harding, pilot Stockton Rush, two members of a UK-based Pakistani business family, and a Titanic expert on board. While many believe that the air will run out imminently, Ledez says that the crew could survive for longer, depending on their ability to limit their oxygen consumption. Expert Frank Owen points out that the 96-hour estimate is only an estimated figure and advises trapped passengers to reduce their metabolic levels.
