Chennai (Tamil Nadu), January 29: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has alleged corruption and administrative apathy in Nagapattinam district, preventing poor villagers from receiving the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a housing scheme. Governor Ravi made these claims during his visit to Keezhvenmani village, where over 40 agricultural laborers were burnt alive by a landlord in 1968. He criticized the construction of an expensive concrete memorial in the village while impoverished villagers still live in thatched huts. The Governor also visited the only survivor of the massacre and expressed shock at the widespread poverty in the area.
During his visit to Nagapattinam, Governor Ravi also visited the Velankanni Church and held discussions with priests.
