A suspected leader of the Dongalo robbery hold-up and carnapping group was apprehended by authorities in Taguig on Jan. 27. The suspect, known only by his alias, Kelly, aged 31, ranks as the tagger’s most wanted individual, according to the lists compiled by the Taguig Police and Southern Police District (SP) for the first quarter of this year.

Kelly was taken into custody pursuant to a no-bail arrest warrant issued on Oct. 9, 2023, by Presiding Judge Antonio Olivete of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 267 for a murder case. In addition, he was also the subject of another arrest warrant issued on Oct. 4, 2023, by Presiding Judge Mariam Bien of the Taguig RTC Branch 153 for a violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, with bail set at P100,000.

The arrest operation was executed by the combined efforts of the Taguig Police’s Intelligence Section and Warrant and Subpoena Section, Eastern District Intelligence Team, Regional Intelligence Unit, and Intelligence Group of the Philippine National Police.

The apprehension of the alleged gang leader marks a significant achievement for law enforcement agencies in their ongoing battle against organized crime in Taguig. Authorities have been intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates that have been plaguing the area.

Director Brig. Gen. Mark Pespes of the Southern Police District expressed his satisfaction over Kelly’s arrest, stating, This operation sends a clear message that law enforcement agencies are determined to eradicate criminality and ensure the safety and peace of mind of our residents.

Local residents have lauded the police’s efforts in capturing the notorious suspect. One resident, who opted to remain anonymous for security reasons, said, We have been living in fear for so long due to the activities of these criminal groups. Knowing that their leader has been apprehended provides a sense of relief and a renewed hope for a safer community.

The authorities have stated that they will continue their efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the Dongalo robbery hold-up and carnapping group. This latest success highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to bring these criminals to justice.

The arrest of Kelly serves as a reminder that the long arm of the law will reach even the most notorious and elusive criminals. As law enforcement agencies continue their relentless pursuit of justice, the residents of Taguig can look forward to a safer and more secure community.
