Ecuadorian left-back Pervis Estupinan has sparked a debate amongst South American football fans about whether he is currently the best fullback in the world. Estupinan impressed during his first season playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, and ended the campaign in style with assists in a friendly against Costa Rica. South American football writer Jorge Barraza stoked the debate by claiming Estupinan was the joint-best left-back in the world, alongside Canada and Bayern Munich’s Alphonse Davies. However, not all football fans agreed, with some suggesting Milan’s Theo Hernandez or Inter’s Federico Dimarco were better candidates. Meanwhile, Albion supporters will be hoping to keep hold of Estupinan and teammate Moises Caicedo, who are both tipped for future moves to top clubs.
