McDonald’s has helped kickstart a successful season for youth football teams in the Southwest region by sponsoring three non-league youth teams: Galmpton Under 8s, Galmpton Under 10s, and Newton Fire Under 12s. The sponsorship will support the teams by funding new kits, footballs, training bibs, and cones for the year ahead. The donation was made by McDonald’s franchisee Gregg Fox, who operates nine restaurants in the region.
Gregg’s funding commitment goes beyond the purchase of new equipment. He has contributed old restaurant furnishings to help kit out the teams’ clubhouse, illustrating the effort McDonald’s puts into contributing to its community’s well-being.
Encouraged by McDonald’s to expand participation in grassroots football, the Irish FA, Scottish FA, and Football Association of Wales have joined the fast-food giant in a commitment to double the size of the new Fun Football program. McDonald’s is the United Kingdom’s longest-standing supporter of grassroots football, working with the country’s Home Nation Football Associations for 20 years.
Fun Football sessions will be offered across the United Kingdom, and a new wave will start in June. McDonald’s invites people to find a local Fun Football session by visiting www.mcdonalds.co.uk/football. Follow @FunFootballUK on Twitter and Instagram for further information on McDonald’s involvement in grassroots football. It is essential to encourage children to play football safely while having fun, and McDonald’s does an excellent job of making it happen.
