Britain’s King Charles III congratulates India on Republic Day
London [UK], January 26: Britain’s King Charles III has extended warm wishes to India on the occasion of Republic Day and expressed confidence in the strengthening of India-UK ties.
In a congratulatory note addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, King Charles III hailed the close bond and shared values between India and the UK.
On the special occasion of your National Day, my wife and I would like to convey our warmest congratulations to Your Excellency and the people of the Republic of India. I cherish the close bond shared between our nations and I am confident that our ties will continue to flourish in this very special seventy-fifth anniversary year of the Commonwealth, a fitting reminder of the enduring values and aspirations that unite us, the note read.
King Charles III also congratulated India on its successful G20 presidency last year and expressed eagerness to continue working together on global challenges.
Meanwhile, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the 75th Republic Day, highlighting the strong bilateral relations between Singapore and India.
Singapore and India enjoy a deep and longstanding friendship, underpinned by wide-ranging cooperation in trade, finance, defense, and close people-to-people ties. Through the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, we are also exploring collaboration in new areas like food security, sustainability, upskilling, and digitalization, Prime Minister Loong said in an official statement.
He also commended India’s skillful navigation of contentious issues during its G20 presidency and expressed Singapore’s commitment to maintaining momentum in ASEAN-India relations.
Furthermore, Mauritius’ Prime Minister also extended warm wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day.
In India, President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations by unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path, accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The National Anthem and a 21-gun salute were presented as part of the ceremony.
Republic Day marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.
The day is celebrated with various cultural programs, parades, and ceremonies across the country, showcasing India’s rich diversity and patriotic spirit.
