Washington, Jan 25 (EFE) – Former Trump adviser Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison today after being found guilty of contempt of Congress. Navarro, who refused to cooperate with the investigation into the 2021 US Capitol attack, was also ordered to pay a $9,500 fine. This comes in the wake of a horde of Trump supporters storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent the ratification of Joe Biden’s victory. Navarro, along with other members of Trump’s team, played a role in spreading false claims about the 2020 presidential election. Navarro is the second Republican adviser to be sentenced for non-cooperation, following Steve Bannon. Bannon, who received the same prison sentence, is currently appealing on the grounds of executive privilege.
