Australia’s Women’s Ashes claim challenged by Healy

The Australian Women’s cricket team captain, Alyssa Healy, has responded to England’s ambitious Women’s Ashes claims, warning their young stars, Issy Wong and Emma Lamb, not to underestimate her team. The England side, which has not won since 2013/2014, has made some bold claims ahead of the multi-format, point-based series played in England from June 22 to July 18. However, Healy took careful note of Wong and Lamb’s comments, stressing that their assertions are a glowing endorsement of the Australian group. Although the Australian team lacks the experience of Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes, Healy is confident in the troops sitting in the change room and their ability to perform.

Healy stated that she is hoping the English side is taking them too lightly because if so, it would be at their own detriment. The group we’ve got in the change room is incredibly good at their job, and hopefully we can show them that, she said. Starting from tonight at 8 pm (AEST), the Australian team will play against the English team to keep their Ashes trophy across a multi-format series.

Furthermore, every ball of every match will be broadcast live and exclusively on Nine, via Gem and 9Now. The Women’s Ashes 2023 commentary team will be led by Emma Lawrence, Rachael Haynes, and Elyse Villani, former players. Additionally, the Test will mark the first time a Duke’s ball has been bowled in a Women’s Ashes series, shifting from the traditionally used Kookaburra, which was previously used in Australia’s Test against South Africa in December 2022.

Ultimately, the team with the most points at the end of the series, consisting of one Test match, three T20Is, and three ODIs, will win the Ashes trophy, currently held by the Australian team. The Women’s Ashes series, played between the England and Australia Women’s cricket teams since 1934, retains the urn six times with 18 Tests, T20I matches, and ODIs. Currently, Sportsbet has listed Australia as the $1.58 favorites to win the series, followed by England, with $4.60 odds, and the draw standing at $4.60.
