WARREN — A man who vandalized the Trumbull County Courthouse by breaking several windows has been apprehended by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office. Christopher Gembicki, 37, was arrested on a bench warrant after he failed to appear for his scheduled sentencing hearing on a charge of vandalism last week. Gembicki had previously pleaded guilty to the incident, where he was caught on surveillance footage using rocks to break the courthouse windows. He turned himself in shortly after the incident in October. The windows have since been replaced, and Gembicki is now responsible for $3,490 in restitution costs.

This is not the first case of courthouse vandalism in Trumbull County. In November of 2021, Joanna McCane, 44, was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution for breaking about 12 windows of the courthouse using a rock.

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office acted swiftly to apprehend Gembicki after the bench warrant was issued. They are committed to maintaining the safety and integrity of the courthouse and ensuring that those responsible for criminal acts are held accountable.

The courthouse vandalism incidents highlight the need for adequate security measures at public buildings. Courthouses are essential centers of justice and must be safeguarded against any form of destruction or damage. The incidents also call for a thorough evaluation of the legal consequences for such actions to deter others from committing similar offenses.

As the case proceeds, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work closely with the court system to ensure that justice is served. The public can take comfort in knowing that law enforcement agencies are committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the community from acts of vandalism. The efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents of Trumbull County remain a top priority.
