Australia’s women’s cricket team captain, Alyssa Healy, has stated her excitement for the upcoming Women’s Ashes series against England. Healy will lead her team in the only test to be played, beginning on June 22nd at Nottingham. England will play their first five-day Test on home soil. Australia’s team had a comprehensive outdoor training session at Trent Bridge following a day of being indoors due to weather conditions. Healy claims that the team suffered from a sense of nervousness, but excitement has since taken over. The Australia captain is expected to move down the batting order to manage her wicketkeeping duties across the five-day match. Phoebe Litchfield is expected to open with Beth Mooney. The 20-year-old Litchfield is uncapped in tests but scored an impressive 68 in a three-day warm-up match against England A in Leicester. Kim Garth might make her test debut and head the pace attack alongside Darcie Brown. Garth played 85 white-ball matches for Ireland before transferring to the Australian team in 2019.
The Women’s Ashes 2023 will be a multi-format series consisting of one-off Test, three T20Is, and three ODIs. The Test carries four points, while each of the T20Is and ODIs carries two points. Alyssa Healy hopes her team can prevail in this highly anticipated Women’s Ashes series against their rivals.
