Two killed in roadblock collision as French farmers widen protests
A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday in southwestern France as a car collided with a roadblock set up by protesting farmers, resulting in the death of a woman and her teenage daughter. The woman’s husband was seriously injured in the collision. The car only came to a halt after crashing into the trailer of a tractor.
Tragically, the 35-year-old woman who lost her life was a member of the influential FNSEA farmers union, which has been at the forefront of the nationwide protests. Her 14-year-old daughter was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old husband is currently receiving medical treatment for his severe wounds.
A police source revealed that the car was traveling at a high speed when it collided with the barrier. However, a test conducted on the driver, a 44-year-old man, indicated that he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
