Apple’s Vision Pro headset estimated to have sold 180,000 units during pre-order: Reports
Apple’s highly anticipated Vision Pro mixed reality headset has garnered significant attention and popularity since its pre-order launch. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that Apple has reportedly sold between 160,000 and 180,000 units of the headset. However, due to the overwhelming demand, new orders are now facing extended shipping times.
Kuo explains that all models of the Vision Pro are now projected to be delivered between five and seven weeks after the device’s official launch on February 2. He states, As expected, the pre-order for the Vision Pro sold out right away, and shipping times for all models increased to 5-7 weeks in a matter of hours.
Interestingly, scalpers have taken advantage of the headset’s popularity by reselling it on eBay at double the suggested retail price. This further reinforces the notion that consumers are willing to pay a premium to secure a Vision Pro at or near its launch date.
While Apple products often experience high demand upon release, with customers having to wait for months to receive their devices, Kuo suggests that the Vision Pro situation is somewhat different. He notes, But in contrast to Vision Pro, shipping times for iPhone models typically increase 24 to 48 hours after pre-orders open, suggesting that demand persists even after the initial sold-out.
To meet the increasing demand, Apple’s partners, including Luxshare, are expected to ramp up production to ensure an adequate supply of Vision Pro devices. The estimated quantity of 500,000 units should not pose a significant challenge. However, Kuo emphasizes the importance of evaluating sustained interest in the product beyond the initial sell-out to accurately analyze any shifts in demand.
As the Vision Pro headset gains traction in the market, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await the official release and subsequent shipment of their pre-ordered devices.
