Trust in government falling as public concerned about future, finds survey
The British public’s trust in the government has plummeted, with a growing number of people viewing it as completely ineffective at improving the country, according to a survey conducted by communication firm Edelman. The annual Trust Barometer revealed that trust in the government has fallen to just 30 percent, marking a significant 15-point decrease since 2021.
Among the 1,150 adults surveyed, a staggering 69 percent believe that the government serves the interests of only certain groups. Additionally, three in five individuals, or 60 percent, expressed the belief that the government is a completely ineffective agent of positive change.

However, the data indicates that the UK ranks among the least trusted out of the 28 countries surveyed, alongside Argentina and Japan.

In line with this skepticism, as much as 70 percent of respondents expressed the belief that chief executives should proceed cautiously when developing and delivering new technologies and innovations to minimize potential harm.
