Three persons were arrested in Sopore, Baramulla district, after the police intercepted a truck carrying a large quantity of drugs. The truck, with registration number JK05C 1271, was stopped during a checkpoint at Railway Crossing Amargarh by Police Station Tarzoo on January 11, 2024. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 3600 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon plus in a bag. The driver, identified as Rameez Wali Rather, revealed that he had given a consignment to a person named Shahnawaz Ahmed Shah. Following this information, the police apprehended Shah and seized 744 Spasmoproxyvon plus capsules from him. Further investigations led to the arrest of another individual named Shabir Ahmed, who was found in possession of 792 capsules. In total, 5136 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon plus were successfully recovered. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are currently continuing their investigation. This operation is part of the police’s efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the area, and more arrests are anticipated. The seized truck is believed to have been involved in drug transportation for several years.
