Zonta Clubs of District 17 Area 3 are organizing their annual conference, the Zonta Area Meeting, taking place from January 26-28, 2024. The conference brings together Zonta members to discuss, evaluate, and plan projects focused on empowering women and children.
The theme for this year’s meeting is Women + Education + Entrepreneurship + Equitable Access = Empow-Her, highlighting the importance of these factors in achieving empowerment for women. The conference will be held at the Fili Hotel in NUSTAR, Cebu.
The main focus of the discussions will be on violence against women, exploring its roots and proactive projects. Addressing such instances requires collaboration across various sectors, including academia. Gold Z clubs, established in schools such as the University of San Carlos, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Normal University, Talisay High School, University of the Visayas, and Benedicto College, play an important role in raising awareness and fostering change.
The Zonta Clubs of Cebu 1 and 2 will host the event, with Petite Garcia serving as the chairperson. Working committees have been assigned to coordinate logistics and secure relevant speakers, receiving support from Zonta International.
District 17 area director Tess Chan has been actively involved in supporting the planning process, providing guidance and contributing valuable ideas to ensure the conference’s success.
Events like the Zonta Area Meeting inspire women to participate in advocacy and empowerment efforts for youth globally, as exemplified by Miss Cebu, an annual beauty pageant promoting women’s rights and welfare.
As the Zonta Area Meeting approaches, anticipation and enthusiasm among participating clubs and members continue to grow. The opportunity to exchange ideas and plan for future projects is invaluable in promoting gender equality and empowering women.
In conclusion, the Zonta Area Meeting showcases the strength of teamwork and leadership within the organization. Members and supporters are committed to making a positive impact and creating a better future for women and children worldwide.
