Hamas justifies October 7 attack on Israel, admits faults

The Hamas militant group has released its first public report justifying the October 7 attack on Israel, stating that it was a necessary step against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. The document, presented in both English and Arabic, explains the group’s motives for breaking through Gaza’s militarized border, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,140 people, most of whom were civilians, according to official Israeli figures.

Hamas condemns Israel’s relentless bombardment and ground offensive, which it claims have killed at least 25,105 people in Gaza, the majority being women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The group is demanding an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression, as well as an end to the crimes and ethnic cleansing committed against the entire Gaza population.

Furthermore, Hamas has rejected any international or Israeli efforts to determine Gaza’s post-war future. Emphasizing that the Palestinian people have the right to decide their own future and arrange their internal affairs, the group firmly states that no external party has the authority to make decisions on their behalf.

The report was met with mixed reactions from various stakeholders. Israeli officials consider Hamas’ claims of fighting against occupation to be baseless, arguing that their attacks have only resulted in unnecessary loss of innocent lives. Additionally, experts believe that Hamas and other Palestinian factions should engage in diplomatic efforts rather than resorting to violence to resolve the ongoing conflict.

It is worth noting that despite the necessary steps taken by Hamas, their attacks have been met with condemnation from the international community. Multiple countries and organizations have expressed concerns over the violence and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution.

The current situation in Gaza remains volatile, with both sides showing no signs of relenting. The conflict continues to have a devastating impact on the lives of Palestinians, particularly women and children who make up a significant portion of the casualties. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is escalating, and urgent intervention is required to alleviate the suffering of the affected population.

As the conflict persists, the world watches with growing concern, hoping for a breakthrough or a peaceful resolution that would bring an end to the violence and pave the way for dialogue and reconciliation. The international community must step up its efforts to broker a just and lasting solution that ensures the rights and aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian people are met.

In the midst of this long-standing conflict, it is crucial to remember that behind the numbers and statistics lie real people, families torn apart, and communities living in fear. Their stories and experiences must be heard, and their voices amplified to create empathy, understanding, and ultimately, a path towards lasting peace in the region.
