If you are a beer aficionado, you might be interested to know if there is a specific ritual to enjoy your favorite beverage. The question arises: Does beer need to rest after being poured? Tasting Table consulted an expert to find out. According to Jeff Tyler, co-owner and head brewer at Spice Trade Brewery + Kitchen in Greenwood Village, Colorado, the answer is generally no. However, there are some exceptions. Nitrogen beers, like Guinness, may require a rest mid-pour as the head subsides. Tyler stated, Once your beer is properly poured, you are good to start drinking it! He also recommended letting most beers warm up slightly to enhance the flavors. When it comes to pouring your own beer, Tyler advised a more aggressive approach for forced-carbonation beers. Pouring directly into the bottom of the glass or at a slight angle allows the CO2 to break out while pouring, resulting in the ideal amount of foam at the top. It is important to avoid retaining too many bubbles in the beer, as it can lead to excessive burping. By adhering to these pouring methods, beer enthusiasts can enjoy the perfect foam and aroma while savoring their favorite brew.
