Two members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group have been arrested by Anantnag Police in Jammu and Kashmir. The arrests were made in the Bijbhera area of the state and the authorities have recovered arms and ammunition from the terrorists. The officials informed that the police have seized Rs 1 lakh, 12 AK 47 rounds, and one grenade from the possession of the arrested terrorists. The police have registered a case against them at Bijbehara police station and an investigation is underway.
This is the second arrest in the state after the security forces neutralized five highly trained foreign terrorists of JK Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) on June 16. The terrorists, who were believed to be seasoned in guerrilla warfare in the Afghan-Pakistan theatre, were planning to infiltrate into Indian territory in the Jumagund area in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night.
The authorities remain vigilant in the state and are taking all necessary steps to ensure peace and security in the region. The security personnel have tightened their grip and have been conducting multiple operations and raids to thwart any possible infiltration attempts by the terrorists.
