The High Court of Himachal Pradesh has sought help from the Animal Welfare Board of India regarding the ongoing issue of monkey and stray dog menace in Shimla and its surrounding areas. The court passed this order on a public interest litigation and a few other petitions filed in relation to this issue. The Animal Welfare Board has been instructed to suggest solutions to this problem. The next hearing for these petitions has been scheduled for July 17, 2023. The court has also advised the Advocate General to consult with other bodies or scientific experts in the field to find an appropriate solution for this problem. The Municipal Corporation of Shimla has already filed a compliance affidavit in the matter. This will be an essential step in finding a long-term solution and addressing the concern of the residents regarding the monkey and stray dog menace.
