The G20 Tourism Ministerial meeting has been hailed a success with all countries adopting the Goa declaration unanimously. The meeting was held in Goa, India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting discussed numerous issues including the UNWTO’s proposal to open a South Asia office in Delhi. Discussions also revolved around the benefits of tourism and the positive impact it has on countries. After the meeting, more than 130 delegates participated in the event. The successfully adopted Goa declaration paves the way for the United Nations to hold another international conference themed around the agenda of the Goa Roadmap. Overall, the meeting increased India’s stature on the international stage, particularly in the tourism industry. Finally, the minister addressed Prime Minister Modi’s message at the meeting, stating that tourism unites people, whereas terrorism divides them.
