Rahul Gandhi, the prominent Congress leader, made a striking appearance during his visit to Majuli, Assam, as part of the ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’. Gandhi adorned a mask of ‘Bajrang Bali’ and held a mace while posing with local artists. The Assam Congress shared images of Gandhi with individuals wearing the same masks, expressing their appreciation for his promotion of traditional mask-making and celebration of the neo-Vaishnavite culture of Majuli.

Gandhi also took a boat ride along the Brahmaputra River to visit the renowned Sri Sri Auniati Satra in Assam. The satra holds deep cultural significance and was established in 1653 AD by Ahom King Sutamla, who adopted the Hindu religion. Reflecting on the experience, Gandhi expressed his satisfaction in immersing himself in this culturally rich region and understanding its unique traditions.

Notably, Gandhi took the opportunity to criticize Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, labelling him as the most corrupt Chief Minister of the country. He further alleged that Sarma could instruct other BJP Chief Ministers on the art of corruption in their respective states.

The Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh hailed Gandhi’s visit to Sri Sri Auniati Satra as the highlight of the sixth day of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’. Acknowledging the satra’s historical and cultural significance, Ramesh emphasized its role in preserving the country’s diverse religious heritage. The Sri Sri Auniati Satra, home to the worship of Lord Krishna as Govinda, holds a revered idol brought from the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Led by Rahul Gandhi, the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ continues to make its mark as it arrived in Assam on Thursday. This yatra aims to unite people and address the issues of injustice and inequality prevailing in society.

With his unique gesture of donning a ‘Bajrang Bali’ mask and holding a mace, Rahul Gandhi not only celebrated the local culture and traditions but also left an indelible impression on the people of Majuli. As the yatra progresses, it strives to bring together diverse communities to work towards a more just and equitable India.
