In a leadership shakeup at PepsiCo, Jagrut Kotecha has been appointed as the new CEO of PepsiCo India, while Ahmed El Sheikh will transition to the Middle East business unit. Kotecha, currently serving as the Chief Commercial Officer for PepsiCo in Africa, Middle East, and South Asia (AMESA), will take over the reins from Sheikh, who has led the PepsiCo India business for nearly seven years. The company announced the planned changes, which will be effective from March 2024, as part of a broader series of leadership transitions across AMESA.

Recognizing the significance of the Indian market within PepsiCo’s global strategy, Eugene Willemsen, CEO of PepsiCo AMESA, expressed confidence in Ahmed El Sheikh’s leadership, which has been instrumental in transforming the business, fostering innovation, and driving community-oriented initiatives. Willemsen also welcomed Jagrut Kotecha as the new CEO of PepsiCo India, expressing optimism for continued success under his guidance.

PepsiCo, renowned for its popular brands such as Pepsi, Lay’s, Kurkure, Tropicana 100%, Gatorade, and Quaker, entered the Indian market in 1989 and has since become one of the largest food and beverage companies in the country. Its consolidated revenue from the sale of products and services reached Rs 8,127.07 crore for the financial year ending on March 31, 2023, reflecting a growth rate of 28.47%.

As PepsiCo carries out this leadership transition, the company remains committed to delivering innovative products and initiatives to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. With its diverse portfolio and strong presence in the Indian market, PepsiCo is poised to continue its growth trajectory under new leadership.

The appointment of Jagrut Kotecha and the relocation of Ahmed El Sheikh exemplify PepsiCo’s dynamic approach and forward-thinking strategies, aiming to leverage its expertise in diverse markets across AMESA. By optimizing its leadership team, PepsiCo seeks to maintain its market prominence and drive sustainable growth in the highly competitive food and beverage industry in India and the broader region.

As consumers in India continue to embrace PepsiCo’s offerings, the company remains dedicated to meeting their expectations through product innovation, community engagement, and a focus on sustainable practices. With Jagrut Kotecha assuming the role of CEO for PepsiCo India and Ahmed El Sheikh transitioning to the Middle East business unit, PepsiCo is confident in its ability to stay ahead of changing market dynamics and deliver high-quality products to its loyal customers.

In an ever-evolving business landscape, such leadership transitions demonstrate PepsiCo’s commitment to adaptability, ensuring continued success in local and global markets alike. As the company renews its focus on strategic growth initiatives, PepsiCo is poised to maintain its position as a frontrunner in the Indian food and beverage industry, while also capitalizing on opportunities in the Middle East market.
