As part of its global expansion and entry into the Indian market, Surgical Instruments Group Holdings (SIGH) has announced its plan to establish a healthcare device manufacturing facility in Telangana. The company intends to invest approximately INR 231.5 crore over the next 2-3 years in this endeavor, which will contribute to the production of various devices that are currently not manufactured in India, thereby promoting affordable healthcare.
The manufacturing facility will be set up in Hyderabad, and the company has received assurances of full support from the state government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ensured the delegation of all necessary assistance to facilitate the establishment and operation of the facility.
In the initial phase, SIGH will focus on manufacturing general surgical instruments, precision surgical instruments used in microsurgeries, orthopaedic power tools, dermatomes used in max surgery, ophthalmic instruments, and minimally invasive surgery equipment. Subsequently, in Phase 2, they will expand their production capabilities to include robotic medical devices.
SIGH is a reputable and well-established company, supplying renowned institutions such as the National Health Service (NHS), the Ministry of Defence (Army), and private hospitals in the United Kingdom. With their headquarters based in Milton Keynes, the company also maintains dedicated manufacturing facilities in Germany and Turkey. Over the years, SIGH has acquired 11 companies, including prominent brands like Osborn & Simmons, Valeplan, Decon Sciences, and Heinz Waldrik. This strategic acquisition approach has positioned SIGH as a consolidator within the healthcare industry, bringing together esteemed UK brands.
