Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative with the launch of the National Mental Health First Aid Training Programme. Aimed at fostering a conscious community and enhancing the health sector, the programme was inaugurated by H E Dr Saeed Harib al Lamki, MoH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, in the presence of Dr Bader al Habsi, director of Al Masarra Hospital.
The Mental Health First Aid Training Programme equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to provide psychological support and effectively respond to emergencies through evidence-based rehabilitation and education. Twenty medical and allied medical staff members were selected to participate in the two-day training programme, which sets itself apart through its innovative use of artificial intelligence techniques to improve primary preventive mental health. The development of the programme was proposed during the inaugural health innovation forum by Pharmacist Zainab al Wahaibi from Al Masarra Hospital, garnering positive feedback from the ministry.
As part of their commitment to public-private partnerships, the MoH has partnered with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company – be’ah to support the implementation of the programme.
