A Hamilton teenager is set to make her mark on the international stage as part of Team GB’s youth curling squad at the Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea. Sixteen-year-old Holly Burke, who is currently training to become a hairdresser, will be representing Great Britain alongside five other talented Scottish curlers. The Youth Winter Olympics, which begin on January 19, will see Holly showcase her curling skills on the ice, a sport she was inspired to pursue after watching the 2018 Olympics at the age of 11. Despite her busy schedule, which includes studying at New College Lanarkshire and working part-time at a visitor center café, Holly has proven her dedication and skill through her involvement with the Scottish National Curling Academy and the Scottish Curling Future Leaders Programme. She has also achieved notable success in various curling competitions, including representing Scotland at the National Junior Curling Tournament and finishing third in the Scottish Junior Championships in 2022 and 2023. Holly’s parents, Caroline and Paul, will be supporting her at the Games and are incredibly proud of her achievements. South Lanarkshire Council Provost, Margaret Cooper, commended Holly and the entire youth curling squad for their hard work and wished them success in South Korea and their future endeavors.
