The third defendant in the case of the killing of Oakland Police Department Officer Tuan Le made their first court appearance on Tuesday. Marquise Cooper, 34, was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, and second-degree burglary, according to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. Officer Le was fatally shot on December 29 while responding to a burglary near Jack London Square. Cooper appeared in court at the Wiley Manual Courthouse in Oakland, where the judge ordered them to be held without bail. A plea hearing for Cooper is scheduled for Thursday. Mark Demetrious Sanders, 27, and Allen Starr Brown, 28, are also facing charges in connection with Officer Le’s death.
