The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five individuals, including designated terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode alias Baba and Ranjot alias Rana, in a case related to cross-border smuggling of arms by drones into Punjab. The chargesheet was filed today in the NIA Special Court in Punjab’s Mohali, concerning the recovery of a cache of firearms and ammunition last year. The investigation has uncovered connections between the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and individuals based in Pakistan. The NIA suspects that the smuggled arms were intended for targeted killings and extortion to raise funds for the KLF and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF). Both organizations have been banned by the Government of India due to their involvement in various terror activities. The case initially registered at Batala police station has been re-registered by the NIA, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
