Putin’s invite to North Korea still on the table — DPRK’s top diplomat

Pyongyang expects more high-level diplomatic engagement with Moscow in 2024, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said at a meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

We believe that it’s very important to step up exchanges at various levels, including the exchange of high-level delegations, as well as various political and cultural activities, Choe Son Hui noted. These steps will help strengthen ties between Pyongyang and Moscow.

Choe Son Hui also highlighted that at a meeting in September 2023, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to boost ties between the two countries and deepen cooperation in various areas. This was when Comrade Kim Jong Un invited Comrade Putin to visit our country when possible, the North Korean foreign minister added.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Putin’s intention to accept Kim Jong Un’s invitation to visit North Korea. He further stated that the Russian president’s visit could take place in the near future and the exact date would be discussed through diplomatic channels.
