Ubisoft, the renowned game developer behind Assassin’s Creed, has made yet another move in the world of crypto gaming networks. The company has announced its partnership with Wemix, becoming one of its 40 partners running validator nodes for the new Wemix 3.0 network. This network operates on an Ethereum-compatible EVM blockchain, replacing Wemix’s previous presence on the Klaytn mainnet.

The shift to Wemix’s new blockchain comes with a significant change. The network now operates on a proof-of-stake authority consensus algorithm, combining elements of a proof-of-stake structure and a proof-of-authority model. Like other blockchains, Wemix requires nodes to validate transactions. These blockchain nodes run the blockchain’s software and verify transactions, earning cryptocurrency rewards for their work.

Ubisoft’s entry into the Wemix partnership aligns with their ongoing interest in the crypto industry. The gaming giant had previously faced backlash in 2021 for incorporating free in-game NFTs in its popular game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. However, Ubisoft’s commitment to blockchain technology remains unscathed, as demonstrated by their participation as a node operator for the Hedera and Cronos blockchains. In addition, Ubisoft has teased Champions Tactics, their first blockchain game, and witnessed millions of dollars in NFT trading volume within hours of launching the game’s first free NFT mint.

Wemix has identified Ubisoft as the twenty-sixth partner out of a total of forty, referred to as Wonders within the Node Council Partners (NCP). This collaboration solidifies Ubisoft’s status as a pioneer in the blockchain gaming space, particularly among leading Western publishers. Their involvement with Wemix further highlights their dedication to embracing crypto technology and participating in evolving blockchain ecosystems.

As Ubisoft continues to explore and invest in the crypto industry, the implications for the future of gaming intertwine with the wider adoption and integration of blockchain technology. This collaboration with Wemix signifies a significant step forward in their collective journey toward transforming the gaming landscape through blockchain innovations.

The partnership between Ubisoft and Wemix exemplifies the intersection of gaming and blockchain, underscoring the increasing opportunities within this rapidly expanding market. With Ubisoft’s unwavering support and enthusiasm, the future of crypto gaming networks appears promising, ushering in new possibilities and experiences for gamers worldwide.
