North Carolina Teen Crowned Miss America’s Teen

ORLANDO, Fla. – North Carolina native Hanley House, 16, was crowned Miss America’s Teen on Saturday night at the Walt Disney Theater in Orlando. Beating out 50 other contestants, House took home the coveted national title, winning over $60,000 in scholarships along the way.

A student at Cleveland High School in Clayton, House entered her first pageant less than a year ago with the goal of making the top 15 at Miss North Carolina’s Teen. Little did she know that she would end up being crowned Miss America’s Teen instead.

I honestly had a goal to make top 15 at Miss North Carolina’s Teen and six months later I’m Miss America’s Teen, so it is really crazy, and it goes to show that the power of prayer is real, House said.

Passionate about entrepreneurship, House plans to use her newfound platform to empower students to learn real-world skills through her initiative called Passion to Profit. Having started her own business at the young age of 10, House is a firm believer in the importance of financial management, community reinvestment, brand marketing, and other essential skills.

I was able to learn so many real-world skills that a lot of teens lack today, House said. Now I’m able to advocate for these real-world skills through my five steps to becoming a successful entrepreneur, nationwide.

House also impressed the judges during the talent portion of the competition, where her years of competitive dancing shone through. She has been dancing competitively since the age of five and considers it an honor to share her love for dance on the Miss America stage.

In addition to her title, House is excited about the opportunities that the scholarship money will bring. With over $60,000 in scholarships, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study architecture and design.

I’m so thankful for that, House said. That will have a lasting impact on my and my family’s lives.

As Miss America’s Teen, House will spend the next year traveling across the country, volunteering, and spreading her message. She hopes to inspire and empower young people through her journey and make a lasting difference in their lives.

With her inspiring journey, diverse skills, and passion for empowering others, Hanley House is all set to make a significant impact as Miss America’s Teen.
