Owner Jenna Meyers began her journey as a hand lettering artist in 2013, initially starting small with hand-lettered song lyrics on photo mats. Meyers’s mother was diagnosed with incurable metastatic breast cancer, and Meyers turned to mindfulness activities, including brush lettering, as a way to cope with the difficult emotions. The therapeutic practice quickly became much more than just a hobby for Meyers.
During her mother’s 14-month battle with cancer, Meyers always kept a bag of brush lettering materials by her side, finding solace and calmness in the act of creating. She began incorporating inspiring quotes and Bible verses into her work. Meyers’s talent caught the attention of best-selling author and motivational speaker Rachel Hollis, who hired her to craft cards for a project. This collaboration garnered attention across social media and propelled Memories by Meyers to further success.
After her mother’s passing, Meyers continued to channel her grief into her art, creating window clings and stickers that resonated with a growing online following. As her popularity increased, more and more people became interested in learning hand lettering themselves. To meet this demand, Meyers created a workbook, designed to make the art form approachable and easy to learn. The workbook was released in October 2018 and was met with great enthusiasm.
With the demand for her hand-lettered products steadily rising, Meyers recently expanded her workspace by adding an office to her south Fargo home. This allows her to devote more time and attention to her thriving business while also maintaining a strong presence in the lives of her four young children.
