Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Arnold: Victim Identified as One of Three Intruders
Police in Arnold are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday night. The victim, identified as Allen L. Austin Jr., 29, was found dead at the scene on Cherry Alley. Authorities have revealed that Austin was one of three individuals who allegedly broke into a home on Fourth Avenue before the shooting took place.
According to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli, the homeowner, 25-year-old Malique J. Black, confronted the intruders and fired a gun, hitting Austin in the torso. While Austin tragically lost his life, it is Black who now faces charges in connection with the incident.
Officials have charged Black with receiving stolen property, drug possession, illegal possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. However, no charges have been filed against Black specifically in relation to the shooting incident at this time. Black is scheduled to appear before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on January 25.
Both the Westmoreland County and Arnold police departments are collaborating on the ongoing investigation.
