New Delhi, January 11: Google has recently announced that it will be discontinuing websites made with Google Business Profiles in March this year. According to Google, starting from March 2024, these websites will be turned off, and visitors will be redirected to the respective Business Profiles instead. However, this redirection will only be available until June 10, 2024. After that date, users attempting to access the websites will encounter a page not found error message.

Websites created with Google Business Profiles are simple websites that rely on the information provided in the respective Business Profiles. For businesses that still want to maintain a website, Google advises creating a new website using alternative tools and updating the Business Profile with the new website address. It is important to note that domains ending with business.site and negocio.site will be removed from the website field on the Business Profile.

In other news, Google plans to discontinue the Important tab in its Files by Google app next month. This feature was introduced last year and catered exclusively to Indian users, allowing them to store critical documents such as government IDs. However, starting from February 15, the Important tab will be removed, and all saved content will be permanently deleted. The notice regarding this change was first discovered by 9to5Google through an APK teardown.

As Google takes these steps towards discontinuing certain features and services, users are encouraged to transition to alternative tools and platforms to ensure a seamless online presence. The search engine giant continues to innovate and evolve its offerings to meet the changing needs of its vast user base.

In conclusion, Google’s decision to discontinue websites made with Google Business Profiles by March 2024 signals a shift in its approach to online presence for businesses. With the redirection feature in place until June 2024, businesses are advised to explore other website creation options and update their Business Profiles accordingly. Meanwhile, users of the Files by Google app should be aware of the upcoming removal of the Important tab and take appropriate measures to save and secure their critical documents before the deadline.
