Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Q4 2023 Total Sales of 90,014 Vehicles
ATLANTA– Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has announced its Q4 2023 sales figures, reporting a total of 90,014 vehicles sold. Of this total, 72,313 were Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, while Mercedes-Benz Vans contributed 17,701 units to the overall sales. The strong performance in the Top-End segment saw a 15% increase in sales compared to the previous year, with a total of 94,391 units sold. Furthermore, the remarkable growth in electric vehicle (EV) demand resulted in a 248% increase in EV sales for the year, with a total of 43,202 vehicles sold.
Dimitris Psillakis, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s sales results, highlighting the strong brand and volume growth. He attributed this success to MBUSA’s future-forward strategy, emphasizing the significant increase in Top-End Vehicle (TEV) and EV sales. Psillakis mentioned that EVs accounted for 15% of total passenger car sales, and TEV and EVs collectively represented almost half of the total sales for the year. He further emphasized MBUSA’s commitment to enhancing the customer experience through both digital and physical transformations, including the introduction of new models in 2024.
Within the Top-End segment, Mercedes-AMG high-performance models experienced a notable 22% increase in sales, with a total of 40,513 units sold in 2023. The demand for the GLS soared by 131% in Q4 2023, with 7,552 units sold compared to the same period in 2022. The fully electric EQS SUV also witnessed a remarkable performance, achieving a 216% increase in sales from the previous year, with a total of 8,989 units sold in 2023.
In the Core segment, sales reached 39,481 units in Q4 2023, representing a 14% increase compared to Q4 2022. The C-Class proved to be a leader in this segment, recording a 25% increase in sales from 2022, with a total of 32,698 units sold in 2023. Notably, the fully electric EQE Sedan experienced a substantial growth of 211% in sales, reaching 1,195 units in Q4 2023.
The Entry segment saw a slight decline in total sales, with 47,271 units sold, representing a -4% change compared to the previous year. However, there was a positive development for the CLA model, which recorded a 12% increase in total sales in 2023, with 9,802 units sold. The fully electric EQB also demonstrated impressive growth, with a 446% increase in unit sales, reaching 5,093 in Q4 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
Mercedes-Benz Vans experienced a 14% sales growth in Q4 2023, with 17,701 units sold compared to the previous year. The year-to-date (YTD) sales for 2023 reached a total of 69,517 units, reflecting an overall 8% increase compared to 2022. Notably, Mercedes-Benz USA is preparing to launch the all-new eSprinter, the first fully electric van in North America.
Finally, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models achieved a 2% increase in sales, with a total of 137,518 vehicles sold in 2023 compared to 2022.
